S.I. Technology affiliates purchase millions of Semiconductor Manufacturing shares

Charlotte, N.C., Feb. 16 - A group of Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp. stockholders led by S.I. Technology Production Holdings Ltd increased its stake in the company to some 2.8 billion shares, or 15.2%, with the purchase of shares from Jan. 1 through Feb. 15, according to a schedule 13D filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

While S.I. Technologies did not buy or sell shares during the period, its affiliates made a series of open market transactions as follows: SIHL Treasury Ltd, 15.7 million shares for HK$17,498,100; SIIC Treasury (B.V.I.) Ltd, 778.2 million shares for HK$766,967,371; SIIC CM Development Funds Ltd, 157.7 million shares for HK$161,692,526 and SIIC Asset Management Co. Ltd, 40.5 million shares for HK$45,432,417.

Semiconductor Manufacturing is a China-based maker of made-to-order microchips.
