By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., Sept. 7 - SemBioSys Genetics Inc. was granted U.S. Patent No. 7,098,383 for claims directed to the production of antibodies in association with oilbodies.

"We believe our oilbody-oleosin technology is an efficient method for antibody production and recovery with substantial savings in both capital and cost-of-goods," president and chief executive officer Andrew Baum said in a news release.

In August the Calgary, Alta.-based biotechnology company was issued U.S. Patent No. 7,091,401 which covers chimeric nucleic acid sequences and methods of expression of EGF in plants and plant seeds.
