By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., May 13 - Centennial Communications Corp. investors led by Gamco Asset Management Inc. bought 2,471,495 shares of the company' stock between March 13 and May 12 priced from $8.20 to $8.35 each, according to a schedule 13D filed on Wednesday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The investors beneficially own 6,208,766 shares, or 5.63%, of the Wall, N.J., regional wireless and integrated communications services company.

As previously reported, Centennial agreed in November to be acquired by AT&T Inc. for $8.50 per share in cash in a deal valued at $2.8 billion including debt.

In April, Centennial said it expected its merger with AT&T to be completed by mid-year 2009.
