Sears Holdings to close 80 additional Sears and Kmart stores in March

Pittsburgh, Dec. 28 – Sears Holdings Corp. announced on Friday that it will close an additional 80 Sears and Kmart stores in March.
According to a statement on the company’s website, the closures will be made “as part of Sears Holdings’ processes to accelerate its strategic transformation and facilitate its financial restructuring.”
Sears said the Sears Auto Centers at the 80 stores will also be closed.
The stores that will be closing in late March are in addition to the 40 unprofitable stores for which the company previously announced closures would be completed in February.
The additional stores to be closed are located in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Washington and Wisconsin.
Auto centers will be closing in late January in specified stores in some of those states, as well as in Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Michigan, Nevada and Texas.
Sears is a retailer based in Hoffman Estates, Ill. The company filed bankruptcy on Oct. 15 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York under Chapter 11 case number 18-23538.
