Scovill Fasteners consents to trustee appointment to wind down case

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, June 28 - Scovill Fasteners Inc. has consented to its official committee of unsecured creditors' motion for appointment of a Chapter 11 trustee, according to a Tuesday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Georgia.

As previously reported, the committee asked the court to order appointment of a trustee to wind down the company's bankruptcy case after its asset sale closes. The sale was scheduled to close on or shortly after June 24.

After that, the creditor group said the company would no longer have a management team or other employees in place to wind down the estates and bankruptcy case.

Scovill, a Clarksville, Ga.-based maker of snap-closure buttons for consumer and military clothing, filed for bankruptcy on April 19. The Chapter 11 case number is 11-21650.
