ATS: Heart valve results confirm low complication rates

By Elaine Rigoli

Tampa, Fla., Sept. 21 - ATS Medical, Inc. said mid-term clinical results from an 11-year, 600-patient study of the ATS Open Pivot Heart Valve confirm earlier studies reporting outstanding clinical performance and low-complication rates.

According to a company news release, the study noted that some patients used international normalized ratio home monitoring for management of anticoagulation and that such monitoring led to "better targeting of the anticoagulation corridor, which may therefore present additional health benefits for the patient cohort."

The Minneapolis-based cardiac therapy company recently announced its partnership with the leading provider of international normalized ratio home monitoring services, Quality Assured Services, Inc.
