Moody's: Atmos outlook positive

Moody's Investors Service said it changed Atmos Energy Corp.'s outlook to positive from stable and affirmed its Baa3 senior unsecured ratings.

The outlook change follows the company's $375 million committed credit facility for its Atmos Energy Marketing subsidiary, coupled with its continuing a positive trend in financial performance in the 2008 fiscal year, according to the agency.

Moody's cited the uncommitted nature of AEM's previous facility as a weakness in the quality of Atmos' overall liquidity and credit profile and a principal restraining factor in its ratings.

"With a liquidity concern addressed, it is possible that Atmos's ratings could be upgraded in the next twelve months if the company sustains its current financial performance," Moody's vice president Mihoko Manabe said in a statement.
