Atlantic Power plans to buy back $140 million 9% senior notes due 2018

By Susanna Moon

Chicago, March 25 - Atlantic Power Corp. agreed to repurchase $140 million principal amount of its 9% senior notes due October 2018, according to an 8-K filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The company agreed to repurchase the notes from holders in privately negotiated transactions.

Atlantic Power had planned to repurchase or redeem up to $150 million of the notes but having "substantially completed" its plans, the company does not expect to repurchase or redeem any more of the notes. The company said it reserves the right to do so.

After settlement, about $320 million principal amount of the notes will remain outstanding.

Atlantic Power is a Boston-based independent power producer.
