New Issue: HSBC prices $638,000 autocallable barrier notes with contingent return on indexes

By Wendy Van Sickle

Columbus, Ohio, March 7 – HSBC USA Inc. priced $638,000 of autocallable barrier notes with contingent return due March 2, 2021 linked to the lesser performing of the S&P 500 index and the Russell 2000 index, according to a 424B2 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

If each index closes at or above its coupon trigger, 75% of its initial level, on a quarterly observation date, the notes will pay a contingent coupon that quarter at an annual rate of 7%.

The notes will be called at par plus the contingent coupon if each index closes at or above its initial level on any quarterly observation date after one year.

The payout will be par plus the final coupon, if any unless each index has finished below its 75% barrier level, in which case investors will lose 1% for each 1% decline of the lesser-performing index from its initial level.
