HSBC plans to price 3.5-year barrier AMPS linked to Russell 2000 index

San Luis Obispo, Calif., Feb. 2 – HSBC USA Inc. plans to price 0% barrier Accelerated Market Participation Securities due Aug. 27, 2018 linked to the Russell 2000 index, according to an FWP with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The payout at maturity will be par plus 1.5 times any gain in the index, up to a maximum return of at least 50%. The exact cap will be set at pricing.

Investors will receive par if the index falls by up to 25% and will be fully exposed to any losses if the index finishes below the 75% barrier.

The notes (Cusip: 40433BYP7) will price on Feb. 20 and settle on Feb. 27.
