By Angela McDaniels

Seattle, Jan. 3 - R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co. filed a shelf registration for an undisclosed amount of securities, according to an S-3ASR report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Wednesday.

Covered by the shelf are senior and subordinated debt securities, common stock, preferred stock, depositary shares, warrants, purchase contracts, units and rights. Debt securities, preferred stock and depositary shares may be structured as convertibles.

The use of proceeds was not specified.

The Chicago-based commercial printer has already paid $39,100 of registration fees for previously registered offerings of securities totaling $500 million that were not sold.
