S&P: Royal Caribbean unchanged

Standard & Poor's said that the corporate credit rating and outlook on Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (BBB-/negative) are not affected by the company's announcement that it has exercised its option to order a second Genesis Project vessel, costing $1.4 billion, for delivery in 2010.

S&P noted that this ship will weigh 220,000 gross registered tons and will have the capacity to carry 5,400 passengers.

This is the second order that Royal Caribbean has placed for a ship of this size, the first of which will be delivered in 2009, the agency said, noting that although this ship will add some incremental capital spending over the next three years, the exercise of this option was already factored into our current rating.
