RoomStore reports $3.53 million February net loss; net sales improve

Charlotte, N.C., April 16 - RoomStore, Inc. reported a $3.53 million net loss for February on $7.58 million in net sales, according to the company's monthly operating report filed Monday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

In comparison, RoomStore posted a $5.01 million net loss for January on $6.98 million in net sales.

The company had $44,000 of cash and cash equivalents at Feb. 29, down from $142,000 at the end of January.

Richmond, Va.-based home furnishing retailer RoomStore emerged in 2005 as the surviving company from Heilig-Meyers Co.'s Chapter 11 case. The company filed for bankruptcy on Dec. 12. The Chapter 11 case number is 11-37790.
