RiskMetrics formulating policies for 2010, seeks constituent input

By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., June 17 - RiskMetrics Group, Inc. invited its institutional investor clients and industry constituents to participate in its 2010 proxy voting policy survey as part of its annual policy formulation process.

This year the proxy services firm said the process will include more outreach to investment industry groups and "expanded outreach to the global corporate issuer community."

The survey period is open through July 31.

An open comment period will be held in October after RiskMetrics publishes its draft policies, a company news release said.

RiskMetrics said it formulates its proxy voting policies "to reflect the collective thinking of its institutional investor clients."

"Corporate governance practices are being more closely scrutinized by investors in today's market climate," the head of RiskMetrics' global governance research team, Dr. Martha Carter, said in the release.

"Engaging with a wider, more geographically diverse set of industry constituents during our policy formulation process will help us address the critical new issues our clients are facing," Carter said.

RiskMetrics is a New York-based provider of risk management and corporate governance products and services to participants in the financial markets.
