RF Micro bought back $33.2 million of two series of convertibles during quarter

New York, Feb. 5 - RF Micro Devices, Inc. repurchased during the third quarter of fiscal 2009 ended Dec. 27 $33.2 million of its 1.5% convertible subordinated notes due 2010 and 1% convertible subordinated notes due 2014 for $22.2 million, according to a 10-Q filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

On Jan. 27, the company said it may use a portion of its available cash to repurchase more of its outstanding convertible notes on an opportunistic basis during the fiscal fourth quarter ending March 28. Cash and cash equivalents totaled $145 million on Dec. 27.

RF Micro designs and manufactures high-performance radio systems and solutions for mobile communications. The company is based in Greensboro, N.C.
