S&P: Rent-A-Center unaffected

Standard & Poor's announced Thursday that Rent-A-Center Inc.'s (BB+/stable/--) revised earnings guidance due to slower consumer demand has no immediate impact on the current ratings or outlook.

Although profitability in 2004 is now expected to be about the same as in 2003 rather than higher, S&P said it expects credit protection measures to remain strong for the rating category, offsetting its somewhat riskier business profile.
