Renew Energy looks to extend exclusive plan vote solicitation period

By Jennifer Lanning Drey

Portland, Ore., July 20 - Renew Energy LLC asked the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Wisconsin to extend its exclusive period to solicit votes on its plan of reorganization to Oct. 27 from July 29, according to a Friday filing.

The company cited the complexity of its case, noting it has been attempting to sell highly specialized assets in a market that contains an unusually large amount of those distressed assets.

Renew filed its plan of reorganization on May 8.

A hearing on the exclusivity motion is scheduled for July 28.

Renew Energy, a Jefferson, Wis., ethanol producer, filed for bankruptcy on Jan. 30. Its Chapter 11 case number is 09-19491.
