S&P assigns Reinsurance Group of America notes A-

Standard & Poor's said it assigned its A- senior unsecured debt rating to Reinsurance Group of America's $300 million, 10-year senior unsecured notes.

This debt issuance is a drawdown from the company's existing shelf registration, which was registered on Feb. 10, 2006, the agency said, noting that Reinsurance Group of America expects to use the proceeds from the offering to repay $50 million of indebtedness under a bank credit facility and for general corporate purposes.

S&P said that Reinsurance Group of America's operating companies' performance is very strong, with a pretax GAAP ROR of about 8% over the last four years.
