Regions Financial files automatic shelf registration

Des Moines, May 11 - Regions Financial Corp. filed an automatic shelf registration in an S-3ASR filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The filing covers senior debt securities, subordinated debt securities, junior subordinated debt securities, preferred stock, depositary shares, common stock, warrants, units and trust preferred securities. Securities may be structured as convertibles.

The registration includes $1.25 billion of previously registered but unsold securities.

The use of proceeds was not specified.

Regions is a Birmingham, Ala.-based financial services holding company.
