Moody's: U.S. banks not immediately impacted

Moody's Investors Service said the passage by the U.S. Senate of the Restoring American Financial Stability Act of 2010 (S3217) will not prompt immediate changes to its ratings on U.S. banks.

The agency said it continues to assess the effects of this still-developing legislation on the credit profiles of banks in the United States. Though it is unclear what provisions will be included in the final legislation, Moody's expects that there will be elements that are both positive and negative to banks' stand-alone credit profiles.
