Possible rising stars stuck at 14, versus 65 potential fallen angels, S&P says

New York, Jan. 29 - The number of issuers with potential to be rising stars is unchanged at 14 worldwide, Standard & Poor's said Thursday.

They account for $16.71 billion in rated debt.

Rising stars are companies rated BB+ and with a positive outlook or on CreditWatch positive. S&P tallies them as the issuers most likely to move up to investment grade.

The 14 total is unchanged from the rating agency's last report and only two above the 50-month low of 12 recorded in July 2008.

The count of companies poised to move in the other direction, potential fallen angels, is much higher at 65.
