RadioShack creditor committee looks to employ local Delaware counsel
By Kali Hays
New York, March 24 – RadioShack Corp.’s official committee of unsecured creditors is seeking permission to hire Whiteford, Taylor & Preston LLC as its local counsel in Delaware, according to a March 23 motion with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.
If approved, the hiring would be retroactive to Feb. 13.
As local counsel, Whiteford will assist the committee and its other legal representatives in reviewing document drafts, attending court proceedings and negotiations on behalf of the committee and providing administrative support as needed, according to the motion.
As previously reported, the committee is also seeking court authorization to hire Cooley LLP as its lead counsel.
Whiteford attorneys will be paid an hourly rate between $235 and $515.
A hearing to consider the hiring is set for April 14.
RadioShack is a Fort Worth, Texas-based technology retailer that filed for bankruptcy on Feb. 5. Its Chapter 11 case number is 15-10197.
