Moody's affirms Assurant

Moody's Investors Service said it affirmed the Baa1 senior debt rating of Assurant, Inc. and changed the outlook to stable from negative.

The affirmation reflects Assurant's continued strong operating performance in spite of a difficult economic environment and turmoil in the capital markets, according to the agency.

While the Securities and Exchange Commission investigation related to a specific catastrophe reinsurance contract remains outstanding, the agency said operational and leadership uncertainty has been reduced with the appointment of a permanent chief operating officer earlier this month.
