Fitch affirms Assurant

Fitch Ratings said it affirmed & removed the following ratings of Assurant, Inc. from rating watch negative: issuer default rating BBB+, senior debt BBB and short-term issuer default rating F2.

The outlook is stable.

Fitch said it has also removed from negative watch the A insurer financial strength rating of Assurant's insurance operating subsidiaries.

On July 17, 2007, Fitch said it placed Assurant's ratings on rating watch negative after its president and CEO, Robert Pollock and four other members of management were placed on administrative leave after receiving a Wells notice from the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Assurant announced that its board unanimously voted to reinstate Pollock as president and CEO, the agency added.
