Fitch affirms Prudential

Fitch Ratings said it affirmed the ratings on Prudential Financial, Inc. (PFI), including the A long-term issuer and senior unsecured debt ratings.

Fitch said it has also upgraded the ratings of various U.S. operating subsidiaries. The outlook is stable.

The upgrade of the U.S. insurance operating entities recognizes the steady improvement in the business fundamentals and performance over the last several years, the agency said, noting it also reflects Fitch's increased comfort that capital levels for the combined U.S. operations are more firmly established.

PFI's ratings are further supported by the company's strong balance sheet, including sound asset quality and stable absolute capital levels, broad business diversification and successful acquisition execution, Fitch noted.
