Fitch rates Prudential Financial notes BBB+

Fitch Ratings said it assigned a BBB+ rating to $600 million of senior unsecured notes issued by Prudential Financial, Inc.

The outlook is positive.

The ratings are equivalent to the ratings assigned to Prudential Financial’s existing senior unsecured notes, the agency said, and reflect standard notching based on rating criteria.

The agency said it expects proceeds from the debt issuance to be used for general corporate purposes, including funding debt due in 2015.

As a result, Fitch said its view of financial leverage is not impacted by this issuance.
