Prudential files automatic shelf covering stock, preferreds and debt

Knoxville, Tenn., March 9 - Prudential Financial Inc. and its subsidiaries jointly filed an automatic shelf registration in an S-3 ASR filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The registration for the parent covers senior and subordinated debt securities, preferred stock, depositary shares, common stock, warrants, stock purchase contracts and units. The registration for the subsidiaries covers preferred securities guaranteed by the parent.

The securities may be structured as convertibles.

Proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes.

Prudential is a Newark, N.J.-based provider of financial products and services.
