Fitch: Prudential notes BBB+

Fitch Ratings said it assigned a BBB+ rating to Prudential Financial, Inc.'s recent issuance of $800 million of senior notes consisting of $500 million 3% senior notes due May 2016 and $300 million 5.625% senior notes due May 2041.

The existing ratings assigned to Prudential Financial and its subsidiaries are unaffected by this action.

The outlook is stable.

The proceeds will be used in part to fund a $350 million senior debt maturity in December 2011, Fitch said.

The ratings continue to reflect the company's strong competitive position in the United States and Japanese life insurance markets and strong statutory capitalization, the agency said.
