Fitch rates Prudential Financial notes BBB

Fitch Ratings said it assigned a BBB rating to Prudential Financial, Inc.'s issuance of $500 million of 2.75% three-year and $750 million of five-year 3.875% notes.

The outlook is stable.

Proceeds are expected to be used for general corporate purposes.

Prudential's leverage remains within expectations for the current rating, the agency said.

Ratings reflect the company's strong competitive position in the U.S. retail and institutional life and retirement markets, the agency said.
