S&P rates Principal Life notes A

Standard & Poor's said it assigned an A rating to Principal Life Global Funding II's $250 million series 1 floating-rate notes due in 2012.

The rating is based on the financial strength rating on Principal Life Insurance Co. (A/positive/A-1), the funding agreement provider, according to the agency.
