S&P affirms Poland

Standard & Poor's said it affirmed its A-/A-2 long- and short-term foreign currency and A/A-1 long- and short-term local currency sovereign credit ratings on the Republic of Poland.

The outlook is stable.

The transfer & convertibility assessment for Poland is A+, the agency said, noting that the ratings are supported by its opinion of Poland's competitive and increasingly diversified economy, comparatively strong GDP per capita growth of around 3.5% and capable political institutions.

The ratings are constrained by its opinion of Poland's relatively high and rising levels of government debt, comparatively low per capita GDP, and the still-large role of the public sector in the economy, S&P said.
