S&P: PNM Resources unaffected

Standard & Poor's said PNM Resources Inc.'s (BBB/stable/--) announcement that the unplanned outage of its San Juan Generating Station unit 4 will last three weeks does not affect the rating or outlook on the company.

PNM Resources' subsidiary, Public Service Co. of New Mexico (BBB/stable/A-2), operates the 4-unit coal plant.

S&P said the outage is being prolonged to allow PNM to complete maintenance work originally scheduled for the fall. Unit 2 is scheduled for maintenance in the second quarter. Both units will be ready for the peak load summer months.
