San Diego, April 7 - Piper Jaffray said it has opened new fixed-income sales and trading offices in Charlotte, N.C., Cleveland and Dallas and added five professionals, according to a press release.

Mark Cantrell, Kyle Braddy and Tom Ashcraft have joined the Charlotte, N.C., office.

Cantrell joins the firm as head of municipal secondary trading. With over 20 years of municipal securities experience, he was most recently the head municipal trader for BB&T Capital Markets and will be a member of the fixed-income services operating committee.

Braddy joins Piper Jaffray as a senior municipal trader and previously held the same position at Keybanc Securities.

Ashcraft, with over 17 years of municipal sales experience, joins as an institutional municipal sales representative. He previously was with BB&T Capital Markets.

In Cleveland, Kevin Barry joins the firm as a fixed-income sales representative, focusing on public entities. Barry has over 12 years of industry experience, most recently focusing on public entities at Fifth Third Securities.

Andrew Swoger joins the Dallas office as a fixed-income sales representative and will focus on credit unions and banks. He was most recently with Southwest Corporate Federal Credit Union and has over 12 years of industry experience.

"These high-quality professionals will be key to our objective of growing our public finance and fixed-income business throughout the U.S.," Brad Winges, Piper Jaffray's head of fixed-income services, said in the release.

Winges also said that the company's goal is to increase its presence in the municipal secondary market.

"We are building out our distribution team, using our strong municipal capability as the foundation complemented by a broad taxable product platform to meet the needs of our middle-market clients," he said.

Based in Minneapolis, Piper Jaffray is a middle-market investment bank and asset management firm.
