By Devika Patel

Knoxville, Tenn., Oct. 15 - Pimco said in a press release that it has hired Christopher Getter as senior vice president and emerging markets product manager.

Pimco's emerging market strategies currently include external debt, local debt, income-oriented, absolute return and currency approaches, in addition to several new strategies under development.

In this role, Getter will lead efforts on the global emerging market debt and currency markets, and will drive business strategy, positioning and new product development for Pimco's emerging market strategies.

Getter will be based in Newport Beach, Calif., and report to Pimco executive vice president Sabrina Callin and Pimco managing director Wendy Cupps.

Getter joins Pimco from Fidelity, where he was an emerging market debt research analyst. He holds a master's of business administration from Boston College, Carroll Graduate School of Management and a bachelor of arts from Canisius College.

"Chris' extensive background in debt and research will complement Pimco's deep emerging markets team," Callin said in the release. "He will be integral in our efforts to continue offering innovative strategies and solutions with the goal of helping our clients benefit from the secular shifts in wealth and growth toward emerging economies."

Pimco is a fixed-income fund-management company based in Newport Beach.
