S&P affirms Piedmont Natural Gas

Standard & Poor's said it affirmed Piedmont Natural Gas Co. Inc.'s corporate credit and senior unsecured debt ratings at A.

The outlook is stable.

S&P said the ratings reflect a supportive regulatory environment, low operating risk and healthy service territory. Piedmont has an excellent business risk profile, according to the agency.

These strengths are more heavily weighted, S&P said, than Piedmont's investments in higher-risk, unregulated operations.
