Phylogica expands Phylomer libraries by 400%

By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., Sept. 22 - Phylogica Ltd. said the release of its Phylomer libraries represents a 400% expansion of its source of new drug leads.

"These new libraries mean that Phylogica has up to 260 million distinct Phylomer peptides that can be screened for their ability to specifically block the disease processes that we're targeting," Phylogica's scientific director Paul Watt said in a news release.

"These expanded libraries have already been validated with the discovery of new Phylomer blockers against a range of disease targets."

The expansion is expected to result in improved hit rates during drug target screening and increased speed in drug-development milestones.

Phylogica is a Perth, Australia-based drug-development company.
