S&P raises Peru

Standard & Poor's said it raised the long-term foreign-currency sovereign credit rating on the Republic of Peru to BBB from BBB- and affirmed the A-3 short-term foreign-currency rating and the BBB+/A-2 local-currency ratings.

The outlook is stable.

"The upgrade reflects our expectation that broad fiscal and monetary policy continuity under Ollanta Humala's new government will support stronger economic policy flexibility and growth," S&P analyst Richard Francis said in a statement.
