Moody's: Peru banks stable

Moody's Investors Service said the outlook for the Peruvian banking system remains stable, reflecting the expectation that the banks' financial fundamentals will remain robust over the next 12 to 18 months.

"The Peruvian macroeconomic environment is currently enjoying dynamic, investment-led growth," the Moody's vice president and author of the report, Jeanne Del Casino, said in a news release, "as well as improving corporate performance and employment conditions."

The outlook takes into account the banks' strong earnings prospects that are supported by continued double-digit loan growth, Del Casino said, as well as their stable core funding, high liquidity, and solid capitalization and reserve buffers to absorb unexpected losses in an adverse scenario.
