By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., Oct. 19 - Investors led by Gabelli Asset Management Inc. bought 6,674,358 shares of Perot Systems Corp. stock between Sept. 21 and Oct. 16 for an initial 5.52% stake in the company.

The shares were priced from $29.55 to $29.91 each, according to a schedule 13D filed on Monday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

On Sept. 21, Round Rock, Texas-based computer giant Dell Inc. announced it will acquire Perot Systems for $30.00 per share in cash in a deal valued at $3.9 billion.

As previously reported, both companies' boards of directors approved the transaction, which is expected to close in Dell's November-to-January fiscal quarter.

Perot Systems, located in Plano, Texas, provides information technology services and business solutions.
