By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Sept. 7 - Pemco World Air Services, Inc. is seeking court approval to change its name to WAS Services, Inc., according to a Friday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The company said its name is being changed following the closing of the sale of substantially all of its assets to Avion Services Holdings, LLC.

Under the purchase agreement, the company's name can no longer include the words Pemco, Air or Aviation.

A hearing is scheduled for Oct. 4.

Tampa, Fla.-based Pemco performs large jet maintenance and repair services. It filed for bankruptcy on March 6, 2012 under Chapter 11 case number 12-10799.
