Moody's assigns Duke debt Baa3/Aaa.br

Moody's America Latina Ltda said it assigned a Baa3 local currency rating on the global scale and an Aaa.br local currency rating on the Brazilian national scale to R$479 million senior unsecured debentures that Duke Energy International, Geracao Paranapanema SA will issue in the local market.

The agency also affirmed Duke's Baa3/Aaa.br issuer ratings and the Baa3/Aaa.br ratings on Duke's existing debentures with a current outstanding balance of R$650 million.

The outlook is stable.

Moody's said the Baa3 and Aaa.br issuer ratings reflect Duke's strong credit metrics as well as its stable and predictable cash flow, which benefit from medium-term generation supply contracts in both the regulated and free markets.
