Panama registers to sell up to $2 billon in new securities

New York, Oct. 7 - The Republic of Panama registered to sell up to $2 billion in new debt securities, according to a shelf registration statement filed on form S-B with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday.

Proceeds from the sale will be used to finance the country's borrowing needs and for other budgetary needs.

The total $2 billion of shelf capacity is made up of $1.850 billion added Friday and $150 million carried forward unsold from a previous registration.
