Bill Gates sells 2.7 million shares of Pacific Ethanol

Charlotte, N.C., June 6 - Microsoft Corp. chairman Bill Gates, through Cascade Investments, LLC, sold 2.7 million shares of Pacific Ethanol, Inc. from May 28 through June 4, a schedule 13D filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission reported.

Cascade Investments owns 6,075,224 shares, or 11.8%, of Pacific Ethanol's common stock.

Between May 5 and May 6, Cascade sold 727,300 shares of Pacific Ethanol priced from $3.12 to $3.85 each, a prior SEC filing said.

On May 6, Gates reported the sale of 1,129,726 Pacific Ethanol shares, leaving him an 18.5% ownership interest in the Sacramento-based ethanol provider.
