Owens Corning $625,000 Tucker, Texas, property sale approved

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Oct. 18 - Owens Corning obtained court approval for the $625,000 sale of its Tucker, Texas, property to Weissker Properties, LP, according to a Tuesday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

Owens Corning operated an insulation plant on the site but closed the plant in 2002 because market demand for the metal building insulation products manufactured there had decreased significantly and the products were no longer competitive in unit cost or price.

Owens Corning, a Toledo, Ohio, building materials company, filed for bankruptcy Oct. 5, 2000. Its Chapter 11 case number is 00-3837.
