Judge in Owens Corning case gets nominees for mediator position

By Jeff Pines

Washington, Nov. 12 - Owens Corning's attorney sent judge Judith Fitzgerald a list of four nominees for the position of mediator between the Toledo, Ohio-based building materials company and its asbestos property damage claimants' committee.

The paperwork was filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware Thursday.

Judge Fitzgerald will select the mediator because the company and the committee could not agree on a mediator.

The candidates are: Coleman Fannin, Arthur Spector, Lawrence Watson and Roger Whelan.

Owens Corning filed for bankruptcy on Oct. 5, 2000. The company's case number is 00-03837.
