S&P affirms Ottawa airport

Standard & Poor's said it affirmed the A+ long-term issuer credit and senior secured debt ratings on Ottawa Macdonald Cartier International Airport Authority.

The outlook is stable.

Ottawa has a relatively strong and captive passenger base by virtue of its monopoly on airport services in Canada's capital, the city of Ottawa, S&P said.

Despite some disruption related to the global recession and difficulties within its high-tech sector earlier this decade, the city's economy has shown what we judge to be remarkable long-term stability, thanks to its large public sector that includes Parliament and all the federal government's main offices, the agency said.
