Qiagen, Osmetech Molecular Diagnostics announce distribution agreement

New York, Nov. 22 - Qiagen GmbH said it entered into a distribution agreement under which Osmetech Molecular Diagnostics Inc. will incorporate Qiagen's preanalytical consumables and technologies into microarray-based applications.

"The Osmetech eSensor platform represents a very attractive platform for molecular diagnostics," Frank Kreig, Qiagen executive director of strategic alliances, said in a news release.

"We are pleased to contribute to their success by providing Qiagen preanalytical solutions, which significantly contribute sensitive, robust and reliable nucleic acid testing."

"This step is in line with Osmetech Molecular Diagnostic's goal to provide a quality molecular assay solution to its customers," Osmetech president Bruce A. Huebner said in a news release.

Qiagen, a wholly owned subsidiary of Qiagen NV, is a Venlo, Netherlands, provider of technologies and products for molecular diagnostics and preanalytical sample preparation for the separation, purification and handling of nucleic acids and proteins.

Osmetech Molecular Diagnostics, a division of London-based Osmetech plc, provides technologies and tools that enable hospitals and laboratories to offer molecular diagnostic services for improved patient care.
