S&P: Origin Energy view to negative

Standard & Poor's said it revised the outlook on the BBB long-term corporate credit rating on Origin Energy Ltd. to negative from stable.

At the same time, the agency affirmed all ratings, including those on Origin's two subordinated hybrid securities and the A-2 short-term rating.

"The outlook revision reflects our expectation that Origin's financial performance will continue to be weak in the near term. In particular, we consider that earnings from its core energy markets business will remain soft in the near term, given the mass-market discounting of retail energy products and persistent subdued demand," S&P credit analyst Richard Creed said in a news release.
