Fitch assigns Oracle notes A

Fitch Ratings said it has assigned an A rating to Oracle Corp.'s offering of senior unsecured five-, 10- and 30-year notes.

Proceeds from the offering will be used to partially fund Oracle's previously announced acquisition of Sun Microsystems, Inc. (issuer default rating of BBB-, rating watch positive), Fitch said.

The outlook is stable.

Fitch noted that it expects that Oracle will fund the acquisition with the proceeds of this issuance; Oracle's domestic cash, which was about $1.3 billion at May 31; and commercial paper.
