Sun Microsystems shareholders to decide merger with Oracle on July 16

Charlotte, N.C., June 8 - Sun Microsystems, Inc. shareholders will vote on the company's proposed merger with Oracle Corp. and an Oracle subsidiary at a meeting to be held at 1 p.m. ET on July 16.

The record date for the meeting is June 5, a Sun news release said.

In April, Oracle announced it agreed to acquire Sun for $9.50 cash per share in a deal valued at approximately $7.4 billion including debt.

Oracle is a Redwood City, Calif.-based enterprise software company.

Sun is a Santa Clara, Calif., networking computing technologies company.
